Rare version of the iconic "Super Ellips" table designed by Piet Hein & Bruno Mathsson in collaboration. This example produced by Mathsson International during the 1960-70s. Large super elliptical shaped table top made from birds eye birch with five detachable chromed steel legs. Very good condition with light age related wear and patina.
The super elliptic shape was originally developed by Mathematician and philosopher Piet Hein for a round about in central Stockholm in 1958. Later Bruno Mathsson and Hein collaborated to develop the "Super Ellips" table with the ingenious detachable bent steel legs by Mathsson the table has today become the designers biggest design icon.
