Oil painting on canvas by Swedish artist Werner Jansson. Made in 1958. Signed with Werner Jansson hallmark "W" and year 1958, a tergo (to the backside). Abstract geometric composition in black, grey, several tones of white and blue. Janssons use of relief in his paint accentuates the transitions between the different coloured figures creating a striking visual clarity in the geometry. Very good vintage condition with few signs of age related wear and patina.
The painting is framed in pine done in the traditional Japanese wood treatment technique "Yaki Sugi", where the wood is scorched with fire to become black before being treated.
Werner Jansson (1922-2026) went to Otte Skölds painting school and later to Konsthögaskolan, "Mejan" before having a career as a painter. His works are included in Modern Museum in Stockholm, Malmö Modern Museum as well as Helsingborgs Museum. His public works can bee seen in several Swedish hospitals as well as in the public space.
